SupportedKeep your OneHomeschool receipt for the Iowa tuition and textbook credit
Claimed on your state taxes. Pay by card, keep your receipt from Settings, and claim the credit on your Iowa income tax return. The state decides what qualifies.
Before you count on it
Iowa counts textbooks and other instructional materials, leaves out materials used to teach religious beliefs, and does not allow anything paid for with Students First ESA funds. Check the Department of Revenue's rules before you claim.

How it works in Iowa
- 1
Pay by card and download your receipt from Settings.
Iowa counts textbooks and other instructional materials for a child receiving private instruction.
- 2
Total each child's qualifying expenses.
The instructions show what counts, what does not, and how much of it is credited.
- 3
Keep a record of how you worked it out.
Each child's name, how they qualify for private instruction, and an itemized list. Iowa asks you to keep it, not attach it.
- 4
Enter the credit on your IA 1040 and file by April 30.
It is the Tuition and Textbook Credit (line 9 on the 2025 form).
