How to homeschool in Virginia
File a notice of intent with the division superintendent by August 15 every year, or as soon as you can if you start mid-year. It says which of the four qualifications you meet and lists the subjects for each child. No approval is needed. By August 1 the following year, submit evidence of progress for each child: a test score or an evaluation letter. A religious exemption from the school board, or a certified tutor, are separate options.
