Every year, within the first two weeks of the school year, send a notice of attendance to the local board of education. It lists each child's name, age and address. If you start mid-year, send it when you begin.

- Who can teach
- Any parent. No diploma or certificate required.
- Days and hours
- 1,062 hours over at least 170 days.
- Subjects
- Reading, writing, spelling, grammar, history, mathematics, science and civics, in English.
- Testing
- No testing or evaluation required.
- Records
- Attendance and report cards kept like public schools, updated every six to nine weeks.
